About Docmine:

Docmine, a creative studio based in Zurich, was looking for a reliable development agency ,that could help them meet tight deadlines while supporting their innovative approach to storytelling.

Thanks to a recommendation from Simon and Manuel, their former suppliers, Docmine teamed up with Notum for our Strapi expertise.

Hybrid Team Collaboration:

We worked as part of the Docmine team – we were in constant contact via Slack and shared a common GitHub. Stand-ups took place twice a week led by CTO Flavio, who ensured a clear technological vision.

Every 3-4 months we met in Zurich for hackathons, where we tested ideas, aligned goals, and strengthened teamwork (with a little Swiss party at the end).

We always responded flexibly to approaching challenging deadlines without compromising on regular testing.

Benefits for Docmine:

  • Scalability: Docmine could flexibly grow or shrink the team as needed.
  • Collaboration: We worked closely together via Slack, stand-ups, and hackathons in Zurich.
  • Reliability: We worked directly in the Docmine codebase, with Flavio providing the vision and our tester ensuring quality.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Our work was high-quality while also being budget-friendly.
  • Continuous improvement: Docmine gained a team that was constantly moving forward through mentoring and further education.

Solution:

Docmine has 2 key internal projects that form the basis of most of their public implementations:

1. Escher Framework

This framework already existed when we arrived, but we modernized and improved it. It became the basis for many projects, such as:

Nuclear Stories:

Immersive stories that educate viewers about nuclear energy.

Carl Lutz:

A digital tribute to the "Swiss Schindler".

2. Scrollstories

We helped launch a new storytelling format – scrollstories, which appeared in a number of prestigious Swiss media outlets, such as:

Watson.ch:

A site with 11.2M monthly visitors.

3. Custom and Confidential Projects

We have been involved in a number of NDA projects for leading Swiss companies.

These initiatives often built on the foundations of Escher Framework and Scrollstories, but some involved completely custom solutions tailored to the specific needs of the clients. Some projects were in Strapi and some in Prismic.

Results:

Our partnership, which has lasted for more than three years, has brought:

  • Innovative storytelling formats: Redefining digital storytelling for numerous companies.
  • Trusted Partnership: Earning a role as a fully embedded, long-term partner.
  • 10 Finished Projects: Balancing creativity and reusability through open communication and close collaboration.
