Terapie.cz

Terapie.cz is one of the projects we helped create from the very beginning. It is a platform in the Czech Republic that connects users with verified psychotherapists.

It offers both in-person and online therapy options, allowing users to choose therapists based on specialization, location, reviews, and gender.

Needs:

After the continous support for we provided for 3 years, our client decided to revamp the portal into a more robust, less MVP version.

Our involvement focused on modernizing the Terapie.cz Portal by implementing new technologies to improve its speed and efficiency.

From a technological perspective, the transition was made from Vue + Nuxt to React, Next with static generation, and Tailwind CSS.
Handle the responsivity in an easier way.
Upgrade Strapi from version 3 to version 4.

Challenges:

Recreation of the portal from scratch.
The tailwind configuration.
Maintaining both applications - the old, which is still running while developing the new one.
Ensuring app security due to sensitive client data, including data anonymization.
Usage of the Google API and location, and the display on the map.

Solution:

Initiated Tailwind CSS for easy design configuration (fonts, colours, etc.) across the entire app.
Used both Headless UI and Tailwind for better app performance.
Updated the libraries and got rid of some for better perfomance.
Leveraged experience in migrating Strapi to a higher version.
Creating more reusable components.

Results:

The original API calls, which took about 600 ms, are now up to 450% faster.
Total blocking time (the time, when the page is loading and the user cannot interact) reduced to 0ms.
The whole app takes less memory, leading to faster building and loading.
Better web vitals (SEO, Best practices).
The new Strapi version enables better work with API calls and the database.
By utilizing both Tailwind and reusable components, the development of new features became faster and more straightforward.

Conclusion:

The Terapie Portal Makeover was a resounding success since we updated the application - which was entirely our creation - within a short not even 1,5 month timeframe while enhancing its speed, functionality, and alignment with modern standards by using new technologies like Tailwind CSS. These changes not only enhanced the user-friendliness of the app but also enriched our tech stack in Notum.
